Happy Holidays to you and your family.
I absolutely love everything about Christmas. From an early age in Los Angeles, Iris McKie Coleman, always had everyone (sisters, brother, uncles, nieces, nephews, neighbors, co-workers and more) at our house for Christmas....our house was lit with wonderful lights, tree was standing proud in our living room with (it seemed) hundreds of Christmas gifts and there was always a flavor of love, giving, sharing and just straight fun! As kids, we never knew we were poor because we never went without.
Since being an adult with children, I have always tried to emulate the atmosphere created by my mother and father as a child. Although, our kids are out of the house, and Elisa and I are "empty nesters," our home is still covered with Christmas lights, fake snow, garland, wreaths and more! I absolutely love it and realize how blessed I am to be able to put Christmas lights up, to buy Christmas Gifts, to Help out friends "in need", to share love with others and simply to live in the glory of GOD.
This Christmas is a little special, as back in June when I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, Christmas seemed so distant and we really were not sure how Christmas of 2018 would be celebrated within the Coleman household. Well, we celebrated my health, family and love within our hearts like it would be our last....of course, it wont!
I recently started my workouts (walking) again, and realized I have an uphill climb to get back in shape, as my 1.5 mile walk felt more like 26 miles, but I finished it. The biggest challenge isn't dodging the cars on Rucker Road, but finding a safe spot to pee.....yes, that's right to pee (urinate)! I still experience the Radiation side effects, which has me using the bathroom often, thus during my walks, a nice tree, construction port a potty (Poly John) or someone's backyard helps me complete the walk without walking with a giant wet spot on the front of my sweat pants. So, if you see me standing by a tree, on my walk, or in someone's backyard, please don't call the police....I'm simply peeing! :)
I'm getting stronger every day and my faith and heart are still filled with love, joy and life. This Cancer crap will not get me down nor slow me down. The inspirational text messages and visits (L. Nolte, D. O' Connor and Family, and so many more)- keep me fired up and focus on the good health end game. Having my kids with me has energized my spirit, and recharged my faith. I have always had strong faith but every now and again we need a reboot, or recharge.
In this day and age, it seems that there are so many things that people are afraid of. I'm not just talking about phobias. Many people are afraid of the future, afraid they won't get married, afraid they won't find a better job, afraid of getting sick. But the Scripture gives us a simple remedy for all our fears, and that is to seek the Lord. We should approach the Lord With a humble and open heart.
By setting aside time each day to commune with Him. By focusing our thoughts on Him and His incredible goodness.
No matter what fears may be plaguing our mind today, God wants to deliver us. He promises to keep us in perfect peace when we keep our minds stayed on Him. Today, love on His goodness. Meditate on His perfect love which casts out all fear. He will deliver us and lead us in the path of peace and victory all the days of our life!
Prayers to our friends at Bethany Place......Sandy Reed and family do some of the most amazing things for families struggle financially, or simply with life. Please pray for Sandy and her family that God continues to bless them, so they can continue to Bless others. Sandy is a blessing to me and my family. Love you Sandy.
Love you for reading my Blog
Was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer on July 18, 2018 which may have crushed someone's soul and spirit. However, it did the opposite, as I already knew GOD had claimed my victory over this disease and was using me as an instrument to others who suffer from this deadly disease.
