How do you make people feel?

1/31/2019

Many times, it's not the words you say to someone, it's simply how you make them feel.  Do you dread seeing some folks, as they are just "debbie downers?"  Do people light up with big smiles when they see you?  I remember when Elisa and I were first told I had cancer - she immediately hugged me and said "We Will be alright", but I cant remember much after that.....except, she made me feel so warm, safe and loved.

It was the love pouring from her into my body & spirit that I remember the most.  What do people remember about you?  My goal is to always make people feel special when they are with me.  I attempt to greet people with a big smile, and huge, loving hug (I'm a hugger).

Make someone feel special today.

Today's Prayer
Be still and know that I am GOD

Love From Coach Alex Richey

Good Morning,
Hope this blog reaches you in the best of health and spirits.

The below heartfelt speech is from Coach Alex Richey from this past Sunday's pre game celebration vs. Hendrix.

In July of 2018 I received a text message from our great friend Kim Coleman in regards to not feeling well and needing some additional testing done with his primary care physician to determine what had been the cause of his most recent fatigue.

The further testing concluded a high PSA test that pushed him towards the specialists at Dr. McCords office which further led to his diagnose of prostate cancer.

Shock and fear when the word cancer is used is typical for any patient, but even from our first conversation, Kim’s positive outlook and confidence towards his diagnosis were nothing short of amazing. I clearly recall Kim stating his confidence on how he was going to ‘whip cancer’s butt’ and from then on that was the only thought that was allowed into our consciousness when thinking about our friend and this battle he was about to face.

The love and outpouring of care from our basketball family was incredible throughout the fall as Kim’s aggressive treatment never affected his spirit as he assured me that he would be ‘ready to rock’ at our first practice in mid-October.

With the help of the amazing medical professionals at Northside Radiation and Oncology at Preston Ridge, Kim was able to defeat this disease. We are blessed to have him here today because of their incredible efforts as well as their off the charts positive energy, that when combined with Kim's resolve left cancer in the rear view mirror.

We would like to present this signed basketball from our players and coaching staff along with Coach Kim to the members of the staff who are here today.

Dr Mark McCord

Wendy Morris

And behind every good man is a great woman so much thanks and love to Elisa Coleman for her courage throughout this time.

From the bottom of our hearts we want to thank you for saving the life of our friend. We also want to thank you for the amazing work that you do each and every day with the multitude of patients and families that continue to fight cancer each and every day. We have such a long road to go in regards to research and care in order to win this fight, but your work on the front lines is nothing short of amazing and our gratitude towards you all is something that we all share.

Please join me in thanking these wonderful people again who we honor here today for aiding our friend, lifting his spirits each and every day, and for your endless commitment to those continuing to battle.

Today's Prayer
Blessed be the LORD who daily loads us with benefits, God of our salvation.

Shots of Love

1/29/2019

Prayers to Tom Radick who has to get a biopsy, in regards to his prostate.  We stand strong with you Tom.

Started my day off with a brisk walk, as I wanted to get it in before the snow and ice hit Georgia.  Received my stomach shot of love from Dr. Banks office (which never feels good but is necessary). You see, the shots of love prevent any cancer cells, which may have survived outside my prostate, from multiplying or inviting other cancer friends to my body....that ain't happening!  The shots of love place the cells in a catatonic stage and the radiation in my body crushes them without hesitation....much like what my San Antonio Spurs do to the LA Lakers. #SpursNation4Life

Getting some work done and preparing for the Super Bowl this Sunday....gonna be a blast.

Make today a great day and don't let anyone dictate your day....You make it GREAT!

Today's Prayer
I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.

Special Day

One of the best days of my life!

Started at 6:00 am, did my daily routine with some push ups and planks, then started rocking my day.

Coach Russ and staff (Morgan, Keishon, Jalen, Stef, Nermina, and Tony) set up for a special day for our Recreation Basketball League all star day.  We had players ranging from K-10th grade participate in this special event, where they competed in a 30 second shootout, around the world competition and Skills competition, along with an all star game.  Your probably thinking, "What's so special about an all star event?"

Well, many of these players won't play in the NBA, or college ball, and maybe not high school ball, but they absolutely, positively love basketball.  They play recreation basketball because of their love of the game, not for money, not for fame, not for their friends, but purely for the love of the game.

We took the advice of a player, who at the time, was in the 5th grade and wrote an inspiring email to me about how we should celebrate our players with an all star event.  This particular player, Ignacio Ros, has been in our program since he was in 3rd grade and now is a 9th grader thriving at the high school level, on and off the court.  Thus, we gave all praise and thanks to Ignacio for igniting this idea and turning it into reality.

Then, came our game at Oglethorpe University.  I had such pre game jitters, but it wasn't because of our opponent, it was because my Angels (Dr. McCords staffers)were going to be recognized today prior to the game, and I wanted everything to be perfect.  Much of it, actually, all of it, was out of my control, but I just wanted it to be special for these incredible women.

Well, all of my angels arrived in their awesome "Built to Beat Cancer" Blue shirts ready to rock.  The hugs and loved each of these awesome ladies gave me was heartfelt and calmed my nerves.  As they were seated by the team bench, I begin to see more friends come into the arena and of course, then my gorgeous wife, Elisa.  Now it's time to rock!

So, after the national anthem, Alex took the microphone, he and I walked to center court and he begin to speak from his heart, as it relates to our cancer journey, battles and our victory.  His words had so much passion, and conviction - it made me tear up a little bit.  Then, the Dr. McCords Angels walked out to center court and stood beside me, like they have done for the past 6 months.  Once Alex completed his tearful speech, our OU players came onto the court, and the best Group Hug ever was created.

We want to thank
Dr. McCord
Dr. Banks
Cara Clouse
Gail Feinberg
Wendy Morris
Carolyn Murphey
Cindy Robb
Angela Strom
Tiffany Hanson
Amy Bowman and many others who helped me through this journey.  You are appreciated and loved.

BTW:  Our OU team won 72-37.

Today's Prayer
Praise be to the LORD, to God, our Savior, who daily bears our burdens

Traffic

1/27/2019

So, I was stuck in traffic the other day, and had a thought come to mind.  What starts traffic and why do we get some impatient when in the middle of the "stop and go" circus?

Well, sometimes traffic is cause by serious accidents....accidents where someone traveling to work - won't make it.  Remember, while we are stuck in traffic, there may be someone on their way to the hospital, someone just lost a mother, father, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, friend or child. They will gladly choose traffic over the devastating heart break they are enduring.  They would gladly accept being late for a meeting over losing a love one.

So, instead of yelling at near by cars, or your radio, just put in a simple prayer for the folks involved in the accident - pray for their health and safety.

Today's Prayer
Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

Good Morning,
"Well, dang - it's Friday....really wish it were Monday", said no ever in the history of the world.  Hope your day is off to a great start.  Mine started with looking at my beautiful wife, then braving the cold weather for my walk, and now my work day.

Received an awesome letter from our Coach Kim's Secret Santa family - Sandy Reed and Bethany Place and wanted to share with you.

Dear Kim,
This Christmas may have been the best Christmas that the residents at Bethany Place have ever seen.  Although sad to say, Thanksgiving and Christmas time is when Bethany Place is at its fullest.  Some of the residents have never experienced the love that is spread throughout the halls of Bethany Place and we want to thank you for making it one they will never forget.  The time and extra thought that was taken in playing "Santa" for our residents was very evident in the gifts we received.  Their smiling faces and their laughter is still echoing in our ears.  The women & children were truly blessed and are still in awe at how perfect strangers can care so much for them.

Thank you again for your kindness and generosity and for supporting the residents at Bethany Place.  We hope you enjoy the Santa picture that we enclosed of our group.  Due to the sensitive nature of some of the residents, all are not pictured.

You see, Sandy Reed is a very special woman.  She takes in families who are struggling in life with addiction, spousal abuse, neglect and more!  Sandy and her family are true Angels.  We are honored to work with her group and families, as they bring light to our lives, and generate so much positive love and vibes from their words of wisdom and their walk with GOD.

Thank you to all of our Coach Kim's Secret Santa families who contributed their time and hard earned money to assist some families "in need" this past holiday season.  You are loved and appreciated.

Make today a great day and be a blessing to someone.

Today's Prayer
Whatever you do, do it with all your heart.

There were days when my body was so tired my bones hurt.  I was so tired, I didn't feel like getting out of bed.  So tired that my muscles ached like a thousand little needles sticking me....but I never did!  My spirit is too strong for these things to stop me.  Not only was it my spirit, but it was Elisa and my awesome family and friends.  Also, it was my "new" friends Nicky, Wendy, Gail, Caroline, Cara, Dr. McCord and the entire staff.

These special people always greeted me with such great energy and a positive vibe. Well, thanks to Coach Richey, and the Oglethorpe Administration, we get to recognize these special people at our basketball game this Sunday vs. Hendrix at 12:00 pm.  It will be extremely hard for me to not cry, as I have not seen them for awhile but they are always in my prayers and heart.  I have a great big smile and hug waiting for all of them.

Today's Prayer
Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good: His love endures forever!

Hope your day is off to a great start.

As I went through my cancer journey, I realized how much of a blessing it was to have Elisa, family, and friends in my life.  I also wanted to continue to be a blessing to others.......hope this doesn't sound haughty or conceded, but each day I attempt to help others via positive text messages, inspirational phone calls or simply giving a homeless person some cash and/or food.

I challenge you today to be a blessing to someone.  A simple compliment or gesture can help lift someone's spirit and put a smile on their day and life.

Today's Prayer

Elisa and I had dinner with two awesome woman last night (Jackie and Nicole), whom we have known since they were in 8th and 6th grades.  Quickly reminded us how blessed we are to have these girls in our lives and how we are blessed daily through Gods grace.  Dinner was filled with laughter, smiles, hugs and great conversations. And, more enduring, loving hugs!!!

You see, we have seen these girls grow from young teenagers to thriving, beautiful, successful adults.  One of the best dinners we have had in 2019....more to come!

My day is off to a fast start, as I have finished many emails, light workout and more before 8:00 am.  Feeling good today but ask that you pray for my friend, Heather Skelton, as she is battling throat cancer and needs our prayer warriors to get after it!!!  My heart is broken but I know Heather will get through this rough time as she is a warrior and will rock this cancer crap.

Today's Prayer
Mightier than the waves of the sea is His love for you

Revive Love and Joy

1/21/2019

Happy MLK Day,
There are three simple things you can do each day that will breathe new life into everything you do.

First, as soon as you wake you each morning, speak words of faith and victory out loud, "My day is going to be great and my path is getting bigger and brighter."

Next, take time to write down the good things that God does for you each day. Example; He allowed me to wake up today, I have a job opportunity today, my kids are healthy, etc.  When you begin to look for His goodness, you will quickly discover that He is working in your life.

Finally, be thankful. Take a moment every day to thank the Lord for all He has done for you. When you develop a thankful heart, you are changing your focus from how big your problems are to how big your God is!  One of my favorite gospel verses is 1 Thessaloians 5:16-18 (Be Joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances.

So, each day, I write down different things about Love, who is God and my wife Elisa.  The following are some snippets from my writings about Love (Elisa);

Love is......
Coming home to hear love screaming at the TV telling Tony Parker and Tim Duncan, or Marcus Mariota to play better.  Then replaying the entire game I just missed and watching it, again, with me.

Waking up to love every morning

Having love pick and fix your tie before a game

Love sometimes drives you crazy but you can't live without it (her)

Like a warm blanket to me.  Warm with love

Love taught me how to say, "Thank you."

Love made me a better man

Love blessed me with an awesome family

Love helped me to stay grounded and aspire to be a better man and person

Love helped me become a Catholic

Love was there when we got the call from Dr. Banks office about my cancer prognosis

Love loved on me and gave me lots of peace and comfort after the call

Love is my #1 fan

Love has supported me through thick and thin

Love is funny especially at night when we're in bed laying down about to go to sleep

Love always makes me laugh

Love is Elisa

Negative Influences

1/17/2019

So, as I'm doing my daily walk, I quickly realize how many hills are in my area....when driving, you don't notice if your going up or down a hill, but when walking, you realize every darn hill created.  My legs were on fire this morning, but got through it all.

While walking, I started thinking about where I came from, some of my friends who had bad situations as kids - then grew up as bad people.  People who had horrible situations but grew up to be terrific adults.

In life, we all have negative things happen to us. Again, I know people who were raised in an environment where there was addictions, drugs, gang life, low self-esteem, depression and poverty. Their parents had issues, and it made things tough for them. But remember when you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, He gives you a new heart and opens your soul.

Basically, your blood line changes. No longer are you subject to your natural family line; you become subject to your godly heritage! His spiritual blessing overrides any curse in the natural realm. When you understand who you are, then no matter what someone else did or didn’t do, no matter how you were raised, you won't get bitter. You realize that nothing can stop you from fulfilling your God-given destiny!

My family had been devastated by Cancer over the past 4 decades, and I grew up wanting to not just find a cure but eradicate this nasty disease.  While fighting to eradicate this disease, I never (once) thought I would actually have cancer, but I did. However, because my heart was filled with the holy spirit, love, family and friends, we changed the direction Cancer had on the Coleman family.  Cancer - Adios!

Make today a GREAT day!  It's your choice.

Good Morning,
Well, I rocked another 2 miles today without having to take a bathroom break. crushed some push up and planks.....planks suck!

Received this great message from my brother-in-law (Ricky M), "I don't ask my body how it feels, I tell my body how it feels."  Love it.

Me and my body are going to have a sensational day!  I suggest you do the same.  Let's Go Get It!

Also, please do me a favor, take a picture of the sunset and send to a friend, and send me names of your family or friends who are need of prayers....We Got Them!

Walk, breakfast, spirtual energy and my Vitamins get me started each day
Well, Happy Tuesday to you!

Day started of great....had a boiled egg, read my daily bible scripture, took my Rock Star Vitamins and headed for my walk.  Thanks to LL Cool J, Howard Hewitt, James Blunt, Aaliyah, The Doobie Brothers, Steve Perry, Building 429, Nickleback and Kool and The Gang, I was able to get through my 2 mile walk with energy, zest and not having to take a "urine break" in someone's back yard.  Totally rocked it today.

Work day has been good with lots of great meetings and positive executives....looking to have our Halftime Health execs at the NFL Combines and Halftime Sports expansion into other sports and properties.

Always enjoy taking a break from the work action to talk with my beautify wife, Elisa who is always a breathe of fresh air for me....I just like hearing her voice.

Make today an awesome day.  God loves you!

Positive Thoughts

1/14/2019

Good morning my friend,
It's Monday, the day that start off the week right, and my early am is going well.  Just thinking about my weekend, which included two (2) sweet wins by our Oglethorpe University women' team, dinner (Kona Grill) and movie (The Upside which was a down side -  C+ at best) with our friends (Ed and Anne L.) and enjoying time alone with my awesome wife, Elisa.

Had a good walk this morning and did some push ups and planks to get my day off right.  Came across a friend during a walk who always seems to be in despair.

Something is always wrong with his life.  He is never happy with his current situation, sad about his present circumstance and just unhappy about life.

So, I explained to him that You have to take control of your thought life.  That's where the battle is taking place.  Thoughts will tell you, "Life isn't fair, why are these bad things happening to me, my wife doesn't appreciate me."  If you let those thoughts continue to play, they will keep you from your destiny.

Work on keeping positive thoughts in your mind and heart today.  A strong positive vibe and spirit will lead you to happy places daily.

Today's Prayer
Be joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances

We are being watched

Feeling good today and getting stronger every day.  I do realize how many people look at me, not because I'm handsome, but to see if I look sick, or am I really Hines Ward (lol), etc.

Everyone is watching to see how we will react in any given situation. Whether you realize it or not, people are watching us. They watch how we dress, how we take care of our home, how we work, and how we treat other people. We are Christ’s ambassadors. If we’re to represent God properly, we should do it with joy,  enthusiasm, passion and a great big smile. People of faith are supposed to be the bright spots in our world. Some who lack faith may not want to listen to what we believe, but they certainly watch how we live.  Some folks may not read the Bible, but they’re reading & watching our lives. Live today as if there was no tomorrow.

Live today with zest and love

Growing Pains

1/11/2019

No one, except Elisa, knows the daily pain I have had to endure these past six months.  Pain will change you.  Pain will change your perspective on life. How the pain changes you is up to you. You can come out bitter, or you can come out better.  Don't just go through the pain, grow and love from it.  The pain has made me a better man, father, uncle, husband, friend, coach, brother, business owner and person!  God put the promise in my heart that is wasn't going to be easy but he would get me through this journey....and he did!

There were days when I was afraid.....days when I was exhausted....days I wanted to quit more times than I could remember.....days I didn't want to get out of bed......days when the pain was so bad my bones hurt.  I JUST NEVER DID QUIT AND NEVER WILL!

Grow from your pains in life.  God will get you through it, and in the end, you will be a better person. Let's Go Get It!

Please pray for Sonya Brovo and her son, Mateo, who is battling cancer; Michelle C who is about to crush Breast Cancer and Jim C who has lots of unwarranted negative vibes being directed towards him.  We Got Your Backs!

Love

Are you concerned about other people, or are you concerned about only yourself? Do you take time to make a difference, to encourage others, to lift their spirits, to make people feel better about themselves? Do you follow the flow of love that God puts in your heart toward somebody in need? Or, are you too busy with your own plans? When God puts love and compassion in your heart toward someone, He’s offering you an opportunity to walk in love and make a difference in that person’s life. You must learn to follow that love as your greatest aim. Don’t ignore it. Act on it. Be on the lookout for people you can bless. Be willing to be interrupted and inconvenienced if it means you can help meet somebody else's need. Be a blessing to someone today.

I always carry a few extra dollars in my car, so to help folks on the streets asking for financial assistance.  $1, $5 or some change is not going to disrupt my overall lifestyle, but it may provide someone with a hot meal, warm drink, etc.  Elisa and I discuss this topic a lot, as sometimes, we know the person we gave money to is going to use it for alcohol or something else, but we gave with our hearts.

I thank you and all of my friends for the daily blessing you all guide my way.  Your love, support and positive vibe continues to lift my spirits, makes me stronger and increases my spiritual energy hourly.  Love you

Woke up to Sponge-bob, Patrick and Sandy trying to out smart Plankton, then Good Morning America, couple of boiled eggs, my daily vitamins and a great walk - went 1.8 miles without having to use a Port A Potty, or someones backyard to pee (LOL).  Although, some of my friends and neighbors have welcomed their backyard to me during my walks.  Also, continued my daily push ups and planks, although it sometimes discouraging, as 6 months ago I was doing 1-handed push ups, now I'm relegated to just getting 10-15 in on a daily basis...but I will get stronger each day.....I promise!

Today's Prayer
He fills my life with good things, so that I stay young and strong like an eagle

Opportunities

I will not allow Cancer to hurt me!  I will not allow it do dictate my life!  I will not allow it to control my situations!  I will not allow it to remove me from my family!  I will not allow it to stop me from fighting! I will not allow it to take away blessing and opportunities God has set forth for me!

God is always giving us opportunities to move forward in life. God wants us to grow and reach our full potential. Anytime we take a step forward, the enemy will try to bring opposition and adversity against us. But God promises that through Him, we can overcome any opposition the enemy brings our way. When you step out in faith and the opposition comes, just keep standing strong and doing what you know to do. Keep praying, keep believing, keep reading and speaking the Word. Keep fighting the good fight of faith and going to church. Keep walking in love and forgiveness, and keep your heart tender. When the enemy sees that we are more determined than he is, he'll back down, and we will move forward to new levels of victory! Stay focused and full of joy no matter what comes against you.

You Ready To Rock The Week?

Hello my friends,
Hope you and your family had a wonderful and safe New Years celebration. Well, the holiday season is quickly ending and our humble house is a lot quieter, feels big and a little sadder, as our family has gone back to their daily lives (Seattle, Houston and Canton), and Elisa and I are back to being "empty nesters."

The house is quite but still filled with the love and joy our kids bring with them on every visit.  My heart is filled with so much love for my family, and friends that 2019 is going to be an awesome year.  My New Years Resolution is the same as it has been for decades - Try to find families to assist and work on always being a better christian (daily).

My walk around Alpharetta/Milton was good this morning.....still getting fatigued but the walks are getting longer and better.  A few push ups this morning with my vitamins and meds started my day off right!  I am getting stronger each day and will continue to push myself for my friends who cannot push themselves because of illness, cancer, etc.  I will always work for you!!!!  We are going to rock today and this week.

Morning hug and love to my awesome wife, Elisa :)

Righteousness

So, I have been pretty upfront about our cancer journey, and will continue to do so.  Well, while driving to the post office, I was pulled over by the City of Alpharetta Po Po (Police).  I  saw him pull right behind me, but couldn't figure out why he was behind me.  I'm thinking, "What did I do wrong, I'm going the speed limit.  Did someone rob a bank and the getaway car looked like mine."  What is going on here.  Then, I thought, "once I turn into the post office, he will continue to go straight and all will be good!"  Wrong, as soon as I turned into the post office, he turned with me and hit me with the brightest blue lights ever.

As the rain hit his police vest, he approached my passenger side and quietly stated that my tags were expired.  I professionally, and calmly said, "No there not, can I get out to show you."  He politely said, "it's in our system that they expired in August 2018."  So, I gave him my drivers license (with my tail between my legs) and quickly called Elisa.  Elisa didn't remember if we paid it or not, but did remind me that we were a little distracted during that month. You see, August was the month we started our Radiation treatments and were dealing with the craziness of Cancer!  Our lives were in somewhat of a disarray.

Now, please understand, we are law abiding citizens, and pay our bills on time.  However, this one slipped by....a small distraction.  Anyway, the Police officer was kind enough to give me my drivers license, and said simply, "You don't look like someone that would BS me, thus go to the tags office and get your tags renewed."

I believe what the police officer saw in me, was someone with faith and righteousness.

The Bible simply says that when we believe God, that’s righteousness.

The proof, or evidence, of our faith in Him is found in our actions. Faith without works is dead. That means when we really believe something, our actions will support what we believe.  When we believe God, we have to leave some things behind in order to embrace the new life He has in store. As we let go of the old and, by faith, embrace God’s promises, know that He is leading us down paths of righteousness for His name’s sake! Keep believing and keep stepping out, knowing that your best days are ahead of you!  Don't allow small detours in life wreck your day.

Basically, I could have had a mean spirited, angry police officer pull me over and give me a hard time, but I didn't!

Just wanted to share this experience with you

Today's Prayer
Be bold, Be brave, Be courageous

Not alone!!!

There are days when I'm exhausted but realize that there are many other people out there who are experiencing worse situations than me.  Thus, when I'm tired and workout, I take that extra step for our brothers who can't take that extra step; I push through that extra set of push ups for our friends who can't; I'm putting in the work for all of our folks that can't because we are ONE!

When I'm tired, I continue to walk because I walk for my new friend John, who finished his treatments and prays everything is all good.

When my spirits are low, I rejuvenate my spirit for Alan B, who had his prostate removed but the cancer came back.

I will beat cancer because of the millions of people who have been diagnosed with this crap, but need their spirits lifted and need a voice to help.

I normally feel good at the beginning of the week, but as the week trends, I become a little weaker, but stronger in spirit because my Prayer Warriors won't allow me to succumb to the radiation side effects. WE stay strong because we have to!!!  There is no option!  I feel your angels with me, I feel your thoughts and prayers with me, I feel loved....how can cancer defeat us????  It can't!

Every text message, get well card, awesome email, beautiful gift, loving hug & cherished prayer crushes the cancer cells, one by one (daily/hourly).  Cancer is on the run....thanks to you!  These wonderful blessings couldn't occur without you, thus I thank, cherish, appreciate and love you!

Today's Prayer
Create in me a pure heart, o God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me

New Life and Love

Many people have said, with a pure heart and wonderful intent, that they pray my 2019 is better than 2018.  And, I appreciated the love and warmth behind the words and well wishes, however, 2018 wasn't a bad year for me.  Many people think because I battled Cancer for half of the year, that 2018 was a horrible year for me, but it really wasn't.

Yes, I had a very intense journey with Cancer, but God blessed me and family with tremendous blessings.  Halftime Sports grew immensely, Halftime Health (Created by me and my high school best friend) was created, family stayed healthy and prospered greatly, my eyes and heart were opened to new friends (Cara, Nicky, Carolyn, Wendy, Walter D, Sandy R, Nivia R, Gil H, Samir P, Nikki and many more), while my heart and soul expelled folks who I thought were my friends, but really weren't (Julian B, Deno H, etc).  And, yes, I put their names out there because it's always good to know who loves you and who doesn't (life lesson).

Sometimes, when challenging things happen to you, your eyes are opened to the circle of love around you.  Former players coming to my house to check on their old coach, present players providing daily love and hugs, out of state friends and family sending heart warming text messages and cards daily to make sure you are good.  Immediate family, pouring love daily.  The love goes on and on and on.  So, really, 2018 was not a bad year;  We will not allow Cancer to destroy our lives.

Elisa and I will experience our Mediterranean Trip in 2019, as it was slightly delayed during 2018 but we will share our love together in the Mediterranean this year.  Chase and I are going to San Antonio to see the Many Ginobili Jersey Retirement ceremony and game (March).  Blake fuels my spiritual soul everyday with his "Today's Prayers" Card, which I read daily.  And, Steph keeps me rocking in Spurs and Titans gear each week (LOL).

Cancer took my mother, brother, sister, nephew, uncle, grandmother, but it won't take me.  We created a new vibe when it comes to cancer.  Cancer Be Gone!!!  My best friends, Chris C and Arthur T, showed me how to beat this nasty disease, as they overcame this disease a few years ago, and I am thankful for their love and mentor ship.

To my mother (Iris), brother (Wylie), Sister (Jackie), Nephew (Tyrone), Uncle (Howard), grandmother (Gertrude), We Got This!  As you look down from heaven, know that I love you and hope you are proud of me.  Much like a heavyweight prize fighter, I fight for you everyday, and the fight continues to get stronger each round.

2019 is going to be an awesome year!!!  Be encouraged today and know that no matter what is happening in your life right now, you can embrace the new life God has prepared for you. Make the choice today to leave the old behind—leave behind old behavior, old thinking, old words.

Today's Prayer
My soul, find rest in God: my hope comes from him.
                               Psalm 62:5

Happy New Year to you and your family!

As we leave behind 2018, let's focus on the beautiful blessings in front of us.

We are a new creations! We have a new spirit, a new walk, a new life! Are there “old” things" in your life that you are trying to bring you down? Maybe you have old behaviors that you want to change. Remember, the new is near. It’s a new year, and it’s time to be the new you. Let this year be the year you break old habits.

Let this be the year that you move forward into a new life of victory. And your new life includes all the spiritual blessings the Lord has promised. You have a promise of peace, health, protection and provision. Be encouraged today and know that no matter what is happening in your life right now, you can embrace the new life God has prepared for you. Make the choice today to leave the old behind—leave behind old behavior, old thinking, old words. As the new you is upon us!!!  2019 will rock for you

I have left Cancer behind me and continue to get stronger each day. It's a process but I make sure it happens daily. Feeling good today, however, I have to take down our Christmas decorations which hurts as it means Christmas is over.  Christmas is my favorite time of the year, but it will be back soon.

Today's Prayer
Be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.
                                        James 1:19

Was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer on July 18, 2018 which may have crushed someone's soul and spirit.  However, it did the opposite, as I already knew GOD had claimed my victory over this disease and was using me as an instrument to others who suffer from this deadly disease.
